The World Health Organization estimates that over 446 million people live with disabling hearing loss, and by 2050, nearly 900 million people might have it. Hearing loss is affecting younger people more than ever before due to lifestyle habits and environmental conditions such as listening to loud music or living in noise-polluted cities. As hearing loss is on the rise, our ongoing research aims to improve hearing aids and help people hear the future.

You will be asked to:
Attend an appointment at our study site. This will be the initial briefing and screening session. During this session, our researchers will determine if you are eligible to take part in this research. You will undergo an ear check and hearing test. This session will last for around two (2) hours.
If deemed eligible, you will (1) :
- Try various hearing aids in different listening environments (e.g. in our lab, at home)
- Do various listening tests
- Provide your feedback with questionnaires and comments
- Participate in one to four sessions per year; each session may take one to three hours
You will receive:
- Information about your hearing capacity
- Reimbursement for transport expenses (2)
Study sessions:
All appointments and sessions are scheduled on weekdays, between 9 AM to 5 PM. The study site is at 18 Tai Seng Street, #08-08, Singapore 539775.
(1) You may withdraw from the research study at any time without prejudice.
(2) Please note that no reimbursement is provided for the initial briefing and screening session.
We are recruiting volunteers! Are you eligible?
We are looking for people who are:
- 21 years or older
- With known or suspected hearing loss on both ears
- With or without prior experience with hearing aids
- Residing or working in Singapore
- Able to commute to and from the study site independently
- Able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English
